In 2012, the UCLA Blum Center on Poverty and Health in Latin America was established as the third Blum Center across the UC system thanks to the contribution of founding benefactor, Richard C. Blum. Dr. Michael A. Rodriguez, a leading researcher and policy expert, became the Center's founding director. The Center, in collaboration with Latin American institutions and other UCLA centers, brings poverty and social determinants of health to the forefront of research and training on health in Latin America.
